Celebrating Watford!
On the hottest May Day bank holiday on record, I was delighted to attend the lively Watford Celebration event at the Multi Cultural Community Centre, St Michael and All Angels Church and Littlebury Hall.
We enjoyed a variety of performances such as clog Morris dancing, a tabla recital from Arjan Singh, some beautiful dances from the Chinese community, Kathak dancing from the Pandav Vidya Shala, some Tamil dances and a six-year old girl playing violin, plus New Connections over 50's dances, and some songs from the Watford African Caribbean Association.
I was very impressed by the work the diverse communities are doing in Watford and with attractions such as the Peace Garden in Cassiobury Park there is much to enjoy in this part of the county.
Peter Taylor, the newly elected Mayor of Watford, was also in attendance and expressed how he was looking forward to working with all of Watford's diverse communities going forwards.
We were also lucky enough to enjoy a wonderful international buffet, with dishes provided from ten different nationalities in Watford.
Thank you for inviting me to this very special celebration.
