A tour of Three Rivers
I had a very enjoyable visit to Three Rivers last week to see the variety of work undertaken in the District by the Council and numerous partnerships.
Accompanied by the Chairman, Phil Williams, I met with Dr Steven Halls, CEO, and Community Partnership officers to learn about the Council's strategy towards Modern Slavery and Youth Knife Crime. Dr Halls said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire to Three Rivers and show her the diverse range of anti-social behaviour and criminality that our Officers and Partners encounter regularly”.
We then visited the Maple Cross & West Hyde Community Centre where an update on current social challenges was provided by Three Rivers and Thrive Homes, followed by lunch at the RVS Lunch Club in Mill End. After going to the Young People's Centre in Gosforth Lane to hear from Youth Workers at YC Hertfordshire, the day concluded at the South Oxhey redevelopment, where, hosted by Countryside Properties, we enjoyed a partial walking tour of the site and met local apprentices.
Chairman of the Council, Cllr Phil Williams added: "It has been a privilege to introduce the High Sheriff to parts of the District she may not be familiar with, and the day has been most worthwhile."
Overall, I am very impressed with the work being done in Three Rivers to address the numerous challenges faced on a daily basis and it was a very enlightening visit. Thank you for welcoming me so warmly.
